Now Hiring In Fortitude Valley

Pastry chef jobs in our Brisbane kitchen

We're hiring pastry chefs for our own kitchen in Fortitude Valley, where everything is made by hand. It's a hands-on bench and the people on it share what they know, so everybody learns from each other. If you love baking and want a kitchen that keeps teaching you, we'd like to hear from you.

The bench you'd be standing at

The bench you'd be standing at

That's the bench. Everything that leaves our Fortitude Valley kitchen is made by hand on it, ready for the doors opening at seven.

The people around it are who you'd be working with — scaling, mixing, laminating, following the recipes closely and picking things up from one another as you go. Nobody works alone in here, and what you learn, you learn from the person next to you.

About the role

You'd be baking from scratch and working the laminated side of the kitchen, fillings included. Full-time, part-time and casual positions are all open, and shifts include weekends and public holidays.

What the job involves

  • Making cakes, biscuits, slices and muffins from scratch
  • Laminated pastry — croissants, danishes and other viennoiserie — and preparing your own fillings
  • Following recipes closely and scaling ingredients precisely
  • Understanding and following food safety rules, every single time
  • Working as part of the team, across weekends and public holidays

What we're looking for

  • Someone genuinely passionate about baking
  • Keen to learn new things and be shown a better way of doing something
  • Able to keep a clear head under pressure
  • Punctual and well presented
  • A team player — this kitchen works shoulder to shoulder
