The cakes you'd be finishing
This is the kitchen at 159 Knapp St, Fortitude Valley, where everything we sell is made by hand. The counter opens at seven, so the baking and the decorating happen here first, side by side with the catering orders heading out to Brisbane suburbs. It is a shared bench and a shared morning, and the cake team works in the middle of it.
The role
Cake decorator, working across cupcakes, cakes and pastries from the mixing bowl through to the finished piece. You will bake and decorate for the counter each day, and take on special order cakes as they come in, which are booked two to three business days ahead and give you room to be creative with them.
What the day looks like
- Scaling ingredients accurately and working to our recipes
- Mixing and baking cakes and cupcakes, then decorating them to a premium standard and on time
- Running the bakery gear confidently, including the cake mixer, ovens and turntables
- Building special order cakes to brief
- Stock checks, stock rotation and the clean-down at the end of service

- Real decorating skill, and a steady hand when the tray is full
- Someone who picks up new methods happily rather than sticking to one way
- Food safety and workplace health and safety taken seriously, every shift
- A team worker, because the bench is shared
- Availability for weekends and public holidays where they apply
- The right to work in Australia
Hours and where you would be
Our kitchen is at 159 Knapp St, Fortitude Valley 4006, and we are open Monday to Saturday, 7.00am to 2.00pm. The work happens across the morning, so afternoons are largely your own.
